This is a portrait of my husband, Ronald Johnson washing pots and pans. It is about the eighth portrait that I have done of him. Previous portraits of him have shown him as an intellectual. Here is a more domestic one. The theme of the show that this was intended for was 'home.'

I had planned to paint this portrait as a submission for the Federation of Canadian Artists' annual mail-in exhibition. The theme was home, so I took a series of photos of Ron doing things around our home. Then he had a quintuple bypass, and painting was put on the back burner while he was in hospital and during his convalescence, when I looked after him. After he had recovered, I began to work on this painting again. It is a tribute to him.
